Welcome to Funtopia, a site dedicated to the work of Mick Farren,
legendary British counterculture radical, sci-fi/horror author, cultural
journalist, critic, and rock 'n' roller. For the latest breaking
info, go to our News page or visit
Mick's blog page Doc40 which
is regularly updated
to for up to the minute thoughts, comments, rants, and other trivia
from the man himself.
In a career now into its fifth decade, Mick has published some 23
novels, 11 works of non-fiction (including four on Elvis) and
sundry poetry, and has released 20 or so albums. Most of his
musical work is on current release in some form or other, and can
be obtained via online sellers. Some of his more recent novels
are available via Amazon or other online booksellers, but many of
his classic earlier novels are out of print: these can mostly still
be obtained online, and details are available on the relevant pages
within. A few are impossible to find and should be republished
forthwith - publishers please note and follow the example of Do-Not
Press who re-published all three of Mick's 1970s cult sci-fi classics
A.K.A. The DNA Cowboys Trilogy in one volume in September 2002.
Currently resident in Los Angeles, Mick continues to be a vigorous
creative force in both literature and music. His last novel, Conflagration,
was published in May 2006, and his memoir of the 60s and 70s, Give
The Anarchist A Cigarette, came out in October 2001, and in paperback
in the summer of 2002. A book, co-written with John Gibb, called Who's
Watching You? was published in May 2007. More books - both fiction
and non-fiction - are in the pipeline. His band, The Deviants,
record and perform regularly and their latest CD Dr Crow was
released in September 2002. Mick also visited Japan in the autumns
of 2004 and 2005 where he was backed by members of Japanese bands
Marble Sheep and Slunky Side. To The Masterlock - Mick Farren
Live in Japan 2004 was released by Captain Trip Records in 2005.
